I'm Anna

Growing up in Bucks County was a dream. It is home to some of the most quintessential Eastern Pennsylvania towns, filled with agriculture, old growth trees, springs bursting with blooms and lush, green summers. Between the towns themselves, the parks systems, and even some of the venues throughout the county, this area is simply a photographer’s dream for sessions of any kind.

Consider me your resident Bucks County Tour Guide, and let’s go through a comprehensive list of all my favorite locations to take photos throughout Bucks County!

Peace Valley Park

Located in Doylestown, PA, Peace Valley Park is an incredibly versatile location, featuring Lake Galena at the center of many, many walking trails that take you off the beaten path. There are docks that jut out over the lake, bridges, fields with tall and dreamy grass, and many wooded trails that allow you to escape deeper into the trees. This park is large and has several entrances, so it’s important to know which features you are most excited about capturing and plan accordingly.

My personal favorite entrance is the Nature Center, which you can access from New Galena Road. This entrance is relatively quiet and very versatile, which is why I love it. There are many walking trails, a beautiful pavilion, access to the water, as well as beautiful fields that catch the light just perfectly during golden hour.

(A bonus? There is a boat launch, where you can bring kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, a row boat, or even a sailboat. Keep in mind that any boating does require a permit.)

Peace Valley Park requires a photography permit (as do all Bucks County Parks), but there is no entrance fee. You can purchase either for the full year or for single day use. I carry this permit each year, so any of my clients are already covered!

Bathrooms are nearby and available at the Nature Center.

Banks Family Session

Molly & Connor Couples Session

Doylestown, PA

There are so many options throughout Doylestown that I will never be able to list, but here are a few all-time favorites!

Mercer Museum & Fonthill Castle

This is, literally, a castle and one of the staple locations of Doylestown. It is such an interesting space, both inside and outside, with an expansive property, old growth trees, and an incredibly eclectic castle.

Permits are required for commercial photography. You can obtain one here.

Downtown Doylestown

Wandering around Downtown Doylestown will find you plenty of options, including the (iconic) County Theater, plenty of pocket parks, Siren Records, and more. Keep in mind that you should ask the business if you plan on photographing inside or in front of their property.

Michener Art Museum

Another elevated and beautiful property, the Michener Art Museum has several interesting outdoor options for photography. Times must be scheduled and there is a permit application process and fee. Contact them at info@michenerartmuseum.org for more information.

New Hope, PA (and Lambertville, NJ)

Another broad location that I will never be able to truly provide every option for, New Hope, PA and Lambertville, NJ are incredibly artsy towns boasting beautiful sights and storefronts along the Delaware River.

The Canal Path

A lush, overgrown path in warmer months and a beautiful more neutral stroll in cooler months, the Canal Path is a great place to take a stroll along the water.

Nikki & PJ Engagement Session

the Logan Inn

If you’ve been dreaming about a sophisticated and formal photography session at the whiskey bar of your dreams, look no further. The Logan Inn has an incredible bar area and eclectic basement that can elevate any session.

There is no permit fee to photograph here, but you do need permission and must schedule a time with them outside of their regular operating hours.

Sammie & John Engagement Session

New Hope – Lambertville Walking Bridge

A beautiful stroll across the Delaware river connects New Hope and Lambertville. The lighting on this bridge is gorgeous, and the views of both towns are unmatched.

New Hope – Lambertville Walking Bridge Wedding Portraits

Downtown New Hope

Ultimately, like Doylestown, your best bet for the full New Hope Experience is to explore it on your own and throughout your session. There are plenty of beautiful locations and picturesque businesses that provide a fantastic backdrop. Keep in mind that you should ask the business if you plan on photographing inside or in front of their property.

Sammie & John Engagement Session

the Farm Bakery and Events

The Farm Bakery and Events is located in Quakertown, PA and features a beautiful 1800’s era rustic barn along with a brand new barn with white interiors and enormous windows. The landscaping at this property is simply impeccable, and there are tall and dreamy fields that are especially gorgeous in May and June. The fall foliage here is unmatched, and there are plenty of indoor or outdoor options.

Requires a scheduled session time and rental fee. You can find more information about them HERE.

Tyler State Park (Newtown, PA)

TSP has a wide variety of options throughout their grounds, including beautiful fields, creeks and rivers, and even a covered bridge (which is quintessential Bucks County). There are several entrances and parking lots, along with being a vast park, so it’s important to know which features you want to include in your session!

There is a permit required for commercial photography at Tyler State Park – find more information by reaching out to tylersp@pa.gov .

Pearl S. Buck House (Dublin, PA)

Photography is allowed at this beautiful mansion, though you must reach out to them first to confirm there is no interference with other bookings (whether that be for photographers or other events.)

Your Own Home & Backyard

Ultimately, one of the most special locations to have a session is in your own space. Whether that’s indoor or outdoor, and no matter what your home looks like, there is something incredibly special about planning your session in a place that feels so comfortable to you. It also allows for so many opportunities to incorporate other aspects of your day-to-day life, including pets, activities you love to do together (see: reading, cooking, baking, making cocktails, playing games or music together, etc.) and anything else you can come up with. These sessions are intimate and special in ways that are all your own.
